Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll explore coil-building and slab construction techniques to create a tall or wide ceramic vessel. We’ll cover essential skills like structural support, surface refinement, and finishing techniques to ensure your piece is both durable and visually striking.

Day 1: Building the Form(4 hours)

✹ Introduction to large-scale hand-building and structural stability

✹ Coil and slab techniques for building height and volume

✹ Managing moisture levels to prevent cracks and collapse

Day 2: Refining, Surface Design, Drying Prep(4 hours)

✹ Discussion on glazing options and finishing techniques

✹ Smoothing, shaping, and detailing the vessel’s surface

✹ Carving, texturing, or adding decorative elements

✹ Preparing the vessel for drying and firing

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a large hand-built ceramic vessel ready for bisque firing. After firing, an optional glazing session will be available for those who want to add color and depth to their piece OR you can choose a glaze for the instructor to finish it.

This workshop is perfect for adults 21+ who want to explore large-scale ceramics, whether you're a beginner or an experienced ceramicist looking to expand your skills. Some prior experience is needed— patience, creativity, and a willingness to work big!
