Have you ever wanted to craft a unique, handcrafted pendant light for your home? In this 2 part series, you’ll learn how to design, shape, and finish your very own ceramic light fixture and then glaze it yourself! Whether you're new to clay or looking for a creative project, this course will guide you through the process of making a functional and artistic ceramic pendant light.

Dates:
~ January 12th & 26th, 6-9pm
~ February 9th & 23rd, 6-9pm
Class Size: Limited to 12 adults (21+), ensuring personalized instruction
Included:
Clay, tools, and installation instruction
Firing of one finished pendant light lamp shade
What to Bring:
~ An apron or towel (or wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy!)
~ Design inspiration (optional)
~ Measurements of your lamp! Bring the screw attachment that holds the shade on if you have one

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll explore coil-building, slump molding and slab construction techniques to create a ceramic pendant. We’ll cover essential skills like structural support, surface refinement, and finishing techniques to ensure your piece is both durable and visually striking.

✹ First Class:
Building the Form(2 hours)
Introduction to medium- large scale hand-building and structural stability
Coil and slab techniques for building height and volume
Managing moisture levels to prevent cracks and collapse
Refining, Surface Design, Drying Prep(1 hour)
Discussion on glazing options and finishing techniques
Smoothing, shaping, and detailing the vessel’s surface
Carving, texturing, or adding decorative elements
Preparing the vessel for drying and firing
✹ Second Class:
Glaze Session (3 hours)
You will be instructed on how to glaze you work and different glazing techniques

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a hand-built ceramic pendant lightshade. After firing, a glazing session will be available for those who want to add color and depth to their piece

This workshop is perfect for adults 21+ who want to explore hand-built ceramics, whether you're a beginner or an experienced ceramicist looking to expand your skills. No prior experience is needed—just patience, creativity, and a willingness to work big!
