What to Bring:

An apron or towel (or wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy!)

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll explore hand-building techniques like slab construction and surface decoration to create a functional and food-safe ceramic serving dish.

Week 1 & 2: Plates and bowls

• Introduction to hand-building techniques

• Designing your serving dish (platter, tray, or bowl)

• Rolling and shaping clay using slabs

• Creating structure and adding details like rims or handles

• Exploring carving, stamping, and texturing techniques

• Adding personal touches to make your piece unique

• Smoothing and refining edges for a professional finish

Week 3: Cups, Final Touches & Glazing Discussion

• Preparing pieces for firing

• Overview of glaze options (Instructor will glaze your piece after firing)

Week 4: Glazing

• Glazing all of your pieces (12 piece set)

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a handmade, food-safe serving dish crafted entirely by you! After the final kiln firing, your finished piece will be ready for pickup within 2–3 weeks.
