About the Artist

Present

Sarah is entering a new chapter of her studio practice. One rooted in artistic expansion and a return to experimentation. Her new collections explores form, color, and presence through sculptural vessels and painterly surfaces, emphasizing movement, texture, and the quiet emotional weight of handmade objects. While still in production of her artist tools, this season marks a shift from repetition toward expression: ceramics as both structure and storytelling, with each piece reflecting a deeper commitment to curiosity, creative risk, and a more honest expression of her creativity.

Past

Sarah Diane has been working with clay since 2005, first discovering ceramics in high school before continuing her education at Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. She earned her BFA in Ceramics and relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2012 to begin building her studio practice. Early in her career, a church in East Nashville generously offered her access to a pottery studio, where she taught workshops and produced commissioned work—including creating the complete dinnerware collection for The Treehouse Nashville.

In 2018, Sarah participated in more than fifteen craft shows; an ambitious season that revealed both the intensity of the market and the physical demands of constant production. In 2019, she stepped away from in-person shows and shifted her focus online, launching Sylvan Clayworks and developing a devoted collector base through her ceramic artist palettes and tools. Her work supports the creative practices of artists around the world.
